I'm not sure if you're supposed to, but I have. (Hint - Mini Chocolate Chips are GREAT in cupcakes!) I put them in the batter just before pouring it into the pan to bake in. When I took the cake / cupckaes out, the chocolate chip provided a ncie surprise inside. Sometimes it melted fully to leave a creamy filling, and sometimes they stayed pretty well intact and added a nice bit of texture to the cake or cupcake. (It depended on the size of the kiss and how long it was baked for and at what temperature.) Just make sure the foil is off!!!
