Bought cakes will have a use by date and beyond this date will not taste their best though can be eaten so long as no spoilage can be seen.I give the information below based on home cooked cake which contains none of the preservatives of shop bought ones (some of which almost unbelievably, have a shelf life of 12 months!)
It really depends on what type of cake it is. You should not keep cake in the fridge unless it contains cream as this will make it go stale very quickly. Victoria sponges are best eaten within 3 days of cooking though a sandwich cake (which contains fat, unlike a sponge) can keep for up to a week as long as it wasn't overcooked in the first place. Fruit cakes (light ones, not Christmas/wedding cakes) may keep for up to 10 days or longer - the more fruit it contains the longer it will keep. Heavy fruit cakes, as long as they are well wrapped will keep well for months. In all cases the cake needs to be well wrapped to preserve its freshness. Most cakes, including iced ones, freeze very well and can be cut into individual portions before freezing making them very quick to defrost. Defrosted cakes will not keep quite as long as freshly baked ones once defrosted. If your cake is a little on the dry side you could try it spread with butter (if it's a fruit/gingerbread type) or warmed in the microwave and served with custard - delicious.

A frosted cake will stay fresh overnight without being stored in a container. In fact, the fat and moisture from the frosting will improve the cake.
A cake without frosting can typically stay fresh for about 2 to 3 days at room temperature if stored properly in an airtight container. When frosted, a cake can last up to 5 to 7 days, as the frosting helps to seal in moisture and protect the cake from drying out. Refrigeration can extend the freshness of both types, but may also alter the texture. Always check for signs of spoilage, regardless of the storage method.

A fresh beef tongue should stay fresh for 1 to 2 days. If you can't cook it within that time frame, wrap it snugly to keep air out and freeze it. Then it should keep for 3 to 4 months.
It depends on the conditions. Usually, it will last for about 4 to 5 hours. If the weather or surrounding are very hot, humid, raining, next to a heater, under hot lights, or in direct sunlight, then it will last maybe only 2 or so hours.

i would say brownies stay fresh for about 3-5 days if they are in a sealed container.
The number of days that shucked corn will stay fresh in the refrigerator will depend on the conditions in which it is stored. The average number of days will be between 5 and 7.
