You can tell the difference by the color salt is a little lighter but you cant tell that much. Salt is a cystal with acid. Sugar isn't. If you have a microscope lying around then look at the characteristics and see which one you think it is.

You find a white granular substance in a jar in your cupboard you suspect that it may be either sugar or salt how could you find out without tasting the substances?

You can perform a simple solubility test to differentiate between sugar and salt. Since sugar is soluble in water, while salt is soluble in water and slightly soluble in alcohol, you can dissolve a small amount of the granular substance in water and in alcohol separately. If the substance dissolves in water but not in alcohol, it is likely sugar. If it dissolves in both, it is likely salt.

How could you find the difference between salt water and pure water without tasting it?

You can find the difference between salt water and pure water by testing their conductivities using a conductivity meter or a multimeter. Salt water will have higher conductivity due to the presence of ions from the dissolved salt, while pure water will have lower conductivity because it lacks significant ions.

Should you have your tea black or with sugar?

This is purely decided upon your preference. To find out you should try two cups of tea one with sugar and one without. If you prefer a pure tasting tea where you can taste only it's natural flavors then I would recommend no sugar, but if you enjoy more of a sweeter brew then you can add a little sugar. Make sure when adding sugar add in small increments so that you don't spoil the flavor with to much.

What is an experiment you can do to find the difference between salt in water and carbon dioxide in water without tasting them?

Ionic compounds dissolved in water conduct electricity (due to polar water molecules splitting lattice into individual ions which act as charge carriers like electrons) so if you run an electrical current through both of them, the one that conducts electricity will be the salt.

What is a variable in which can freeze faster salt or sugar?

If you're trying to set up an experiment, the manipulated variables would be salt and sugar, and varying ratios of salt to water or sugar to water. Say you wanted to find out how fast water froze if it had sugar in it, and wanted to compare it to how quickly it froze with salt. Your controls would be the amount of water, the type of container, and the temperature of the freezer. You could pour 18 plastic cups of water, 6 plain water (the control), 6 with salt and 6 with sugar. You could also vary the amount of sugar or salt in the water (say, .5% to 2.5%, with an increase of .5% in each cup).
