Well it has had several variants over the years since it was made. i believe the 1st were the Greeks they had a form of Pizza and so did the Romans but they used a different type of base . the moderen pizza as we now no it was made in Italy. hope it helps =)

Peasants ate flat bread with tomatoes on top which they called pizza. Queen Margherita saw this and ordered a cook to make one. He made one with italys colors; motzarella for white, tomatoes for red and basil for green. bon appatite!
