Corn palace is two separate words. The corn palace itself is located in Mitchell, South Dakota (middle of nowhere), and, as I found out firsthand, is about two miles from the Pilot Travel Center. The shops across the street include a stand which sells iced lemonade, and it's the best thing ever after you've walked that two miles in 102 degree heat.
When established in 1892, it was called "The Corn Belt Exposition".
