Why do Christians reject Muhammad as a true Prophet?

Because Christians don't believe in the Islam religion and if they were to believe in Muhammad they would be Muslim, not Christian.

But if you question why they don't become Muslims, some of them will tell you that they do not believe that Muhammad was a prophet because his moral standard was not very high when you compare it to Jesus.

Also Christians have always believed that Jesus died on the cross and rose to life again on the third day. The Quran, on the contrary, teaches that Jesus did not die on that cross but Allah made it appear as if he did die. This makes a mockery of everything in The Bible and makes a mockery of Allah because Allah is a deceiver who deceived the apostles of Jesus into thinking Jesus had died. This builds an impossible impasse because this makes the god of Muhammad a liar.

And then there is bad media about Islam.

And don't forget the Quran which waffles on and on.

وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ تَرَى أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا مِنَ الْحَقِّ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ(83)

And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth: they pray: "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses.

Christians do not accept Muhammad as a true prophet from God. There are many reasons for this but the following are only some of them...

1. For Christians the Old Testament (Jewish Scriptures) is the beginning and New Testament (Christian Scriptures) is the end.

2. God sent many Prophets to mankind who were the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. However, Jesus Christ was the last of all the Prophets God sent to mankind through Jacob's descendants. (Mark 12:6)

3. Jesus Christ claimed that He is the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to God but through Jesus. He also claimed that he is the first and the last. (Jn.14:6; Revelations 22:13)

4. Jesus Christ warned that there would be false Prophets and Messiahs. (Matthew 24:24)

5. Islamic Prophet Muhammad brought another book called 'Quran' which conflicts with the narratives and teachings of the Old Testament and New Testament.

6. Muhammad was the descendant of Ishmael, but not Isaac and Jacob.

7. Muhammad claimed he is the last prophet as opposed to Jesus Christ who was sent by God to mankind last of all the Prophets.

8. Muhammad did not know the Name of God (YHWH=YaHWeH) which the previous true prophets knew.

9. Muhammad could not quote previous Prophets' revelations verbatim to prove he was also from the same God.

10.Muhammad could not do any verifiable and objective miracles like Jesus Christ who is the last and greatest Prophet and Saviour of mankind!

Christians who reject Islam generally do so for three main reasons (in their view):

1. The Qur'an makes the entire basis of Christianity, the Sacrifice on the Cross and the forgiveness of original sin, a nullity and repudiates this fundamental aspect of Christianity. Another part of this is the Islamic Claim that Jesus was not God himself incarnate and rejection of trinitarianism, which strikes at the root of Christian theology.
   
2. Muhammad was a conquering warlord who married over a dozen women, held slaves, engaged in massacres, and did not do a single provable miracle other than (1) reveal the Qur'an or (2) fly to Jerusalem secretly at night. He did nothing worthy of the mantle of prophecy.
3. The message of Islam, which is one of rigid following of religious edicts in order to be judged by God, contradicts with the message of Christianity, which is about complete love and trust of man by God.
