The turbo button on a personal computer was used to change the speed of the computer. Usually, this was accomplished by changing the speed of the clock that the processor was using. Generally, having the button pressed in, turned the turbo on and allowed the computer to run at full speed.

This button was usually used while playing games whose speed depended solely on the speed of the computer. If the computer was too fast, the game would be unplayable. Turbo buttons are not found on newer computers. I don't believe that have been used widely since the '486 days.
