Was digimon made by the same people who made Pokemon?
No, Satoshi Tajiri, the creator of Pokémon did not create Digimon. Digimon's human creators have not been identified by name however the companies behind Digimon's creation is Bandai of Japan since they had created the Tamagotchi concept and Wiz had planned the idea of the Digital Monster virtual pet even though Bandai created it. Digimon started out as a digital pet called "Digital Monster", which was a spin-off of the Tamagotchi and its concept was mainly for boys. Every owner would start with a Baby Digimon, train it, evolve it, take care of it and then have battles with other Digimon owners to see who was stronger. The Digimon pet had several evolution capabilities and abilities too so many owners had many different Digimon.

Digimon did not copy Pokemon. Pokemon created a GENRE, not a GAME. Digimon was next to pass on the genre. Then came more games in the genre (mobile ones are stupid). I have never played Digimon game because I don't have the right console but I like the anime. I am still waiting for Digimon Survive for the Nintendo Switch. Digimon is my favorite show and I like to draw "Virtukins", a video game I made up that is in the same genre. I LOVE MONSTER COLLECTORS!

Pokemon was technically first, and look at them both today. And the original digimon pets were in production at the same time as the pokemon game. The initial digimon manga, c'mon digimon, was in production at the same time as the pokemon anime, so couldn't have ripped it off. The subsequent V-tamer manga and adventure anime were just follow-ons of this. Talking about the digimon anime, which is what most people cite as being a pokemon rip-off, that just plain doesn't make sense. The anime is about each character meeting a single digimon and powering them up to fight with them i a plot to save the world from evil and suchlike. Pokemon is an anime about one character and his pokemon which he was given, and his quest to catch them all. The digimon anime is closer to mar, but no-one accuses that of being a pokemon ripoff.EDIT: Pokemon was released at February 27, 1996, and Digimon at June 26, 1997, and Digimon is not a ripoff of Tamagotchi, case it wad released by the same company witch makes Digimon another merchandise, and not a ripoff.
