Yes. Each player has a Field Spell zone, and while the rules state only one Field Spell Card can be active at any one time, this does not prohibit the opponent from Setting a Field Spell Card. Both players may Set one, if they wish.

How many trap cards can you set in one turn in Yu-Gi-Oh?

You can set as many traps as you desire each turn, until you fill up the spell and trap card zone. You cannot have more than five traps on the field at once.

What is a field spell card?

A field spell card is a sub-class of Spell card that has a symbol similar to a compass. Field Spell cards generally have effects that affect both players, or can be activated by both players (Examples include Molten Destruction, Necrovalley and Mausoleum of the Emperor), and are played in the space to the left of the monster card zones, above the Extra Deck, instead of in the regular Spell/Trap zones. Only one Field Spell can be face-up on the field. If you have an active field spell and wish to activate or set a new field spell, you destroy the active field spell before playing your own. If your opponent controls a field spell, you can set a field spell without destroying the active field spell, and when you activate your new field spell, your opponent's field spell is destroyed after the activation resolves, which means that they can save their field spell by activating cards like Mystical Space Typhoon and Dust Tornado.

Does the trigger effect of Geartown activate if another field spell is activated in Yu-Gi-Oh?

Sometimes. It is an Optional Trigger so it can miss the timing. When an opponent activates a Field Spell card, your Field Spell Card is destroyed when the opponent's resolves. Your opponent's field spell card will resolve to the field, your Geartown will be destroyed, since the destruction was the last thing to happen, Geartown will Trigger. When you activate a new Field Spell Card over your own, your original one is destroyed when the new one activates. Geartown will go to the graveyard, then your new one will resolve to the field. Geartown misses the timing. If however you Set a new Field Spell Card, this doesn't use the chain. Geartown will be destroyed as above, and will also Trigger.

What is considered to be a normal spell card in yu gi oh?

A Normal Spell card is one that has no symbol after the words '[Spell Card]' under the card title. The symbols after it denote Quickplays, Field Spell, Equip Spell, Ritual Spell and Continuous Spell, but only cards lacking these symbols are considered to be Normal Spell cards.

What do yu gi o traps and spells do?

Spells can be field spell, quick-play and countinous. An normal one is activated only in main pharses. YOU can choose to set spells down to trick your openment. Quick plays can be activated from your hand, or you can set quick plays down and use them on your openments turn. note that only quick plays can be activiated on others turn. continous are activated, and can stay on the field until one player destroys it. field spells are like continous, except that they go to the field spell section and that only one out of both can be activated. when one field spell is activated, the previous one goes to the grave. traps can be counter and continous. traps ( normal) can be activated when you set them down, at anytime. However, they cannot be activated the turn you set them in. Counters are like a normal trap, except they negate other affects. for example, seven tools of the bandit. Continous traps are like normal traps and continous spells combined. the cannot be activated thhe turn they where set in. but once activated, it stays on the field until destroyed. technically, that is the whole concept of traps and spells!

Does playing a field spell destroy an existing field spell?

Yes, there can only be one active at any one time. If you already have a Field Spell active, you can replace it with another, the first is destroyed when you activate the second. If the opponent has one, then it is destroyed when you Field Spell card resolves. Field Spell cards can be set while another is active. Since the rule only affects active Field Spells, set cards are not destroyed by your opponent setting or activating a Field Spell card.

In yugioh can you replace field cards with other field cards?

You may replace your active Field Spell card with a new one, either Setting it or Activating it. Your old card is destroyed and goes to the graveyard. Replacing an active Geartown by Setting a second one is a focal combo in Geartown decks. If your opponent has a Field Spell card active, this is destroyed when you resolve a Field Spell card. However their active one is not destroyed if you just Set one, and neither is their Set one destroyed if you activate or Set one too.

Can you destroy your own Field Spell by activating another Field Spell in Yu-Gi-Oh?

Yes. One of the few times when you can voluntarily destroy one of your own cards, is when you wish to replace your Field Spell Card with either another active one, or even a Set one.

Can you use a quick play spell card from your hand?

You do not have to Set a Quickplay Spell Card to use it in your own turn - just the same as you do not have to Set your regular Normal Spell Cards before you activate them. You can chain a Quickplay spell from hand too, as they are spell speed 2 - that is, you don't have to set them if you want to chain them to something. So if it is your battle phase and you attack, and the opponent uses Mirror Force, you can chain My Body as a Shield from your hand. However if you want to use them in the opponent's turn, you do have to set them on the field.
