In the original time line he is last seen at the end of the series premier of Star Trek: The Next Generation (Encounter at Farpoint). Data was taking him somewhere via shuttle craft because he didn't want to use "that confounded transporter". The character was about 130 years old in that episode.
In the new time line he is alive and well and yelling at Kirk and getting his arm stuck in photon torpedoes.
