Yes it does! There used to be a little show going on near the sword in the stone where Merlin would choose a kid in the audience and the kid would pull it out! Sadly, the show is no longer done and nobody knows how the guy who played Merlin go the stone to pop out. If any cast members out there that knows how it's done please post it here!

From 1994 to 2006, the area in front of Cinderella's Golden Carousel was home to the Sword in the Stone Ceremony. Presented several times each day, Merlin would appear and invite members of the audience to try pulling the sword out. It was usually pulled out by a young child.

The show is no longer presented (meaning that the sword cannot be pulled out by guests). There are rumors of a new "interactive area" involving the sword.

Why does the wart attempt to pull the sword from the stone?

In the Disney animated movie The Sword in Stone, Arthur, nicknamed Wart by Merlin, is accompanying Kaye to a joust as his squire. Wart forgets Kaye's sword and is headed back to fetch it when he comes across a sword embedded in stone. Wanting to get back to the tournament as soon as possible he decides to pull the sword from the stone and take it back to Kaye. What Wart didn't realize was that this sword was placed in the stone to be pulled from the stone only by the "rightwise born King of England." Others had tried but not been able to remove the sword. Wart easily pulls the sword from the stone and is acknowledge by everyone as Arthur, King of England.
