Stacey decides to tell Mama about going to the Wallace store because he feels a sense of responsibility to be honest with her about his actions. He understands the risks involved with the store, which is known for its racial tensions and hostility towards Black patrons. By being truthful, Stacey hopes to maintain trust with his mother, even though he knows she may be disappointed in his choice to go there. His decision reflects his growing awareness of the complexities of their social environment and the importance of accountability.
I think it's because they want the world to think that Bobby Martin was not an important part of The Sound of Philadelphia. They want to take credit for Bobby Martins hard work. Motown never did anything like this to their producers and arrangers! Bobby Martin is a legend in Philadelphia and on the west coast as well. If it weren't for Bobby Martin, Gamble & Huff we wouldn't have that classic Sound of Philadelphia. This kind of behavior really makes me sick. Bobby Martin is very well known for his accomplishments, and trying to act like Bobby Martin didn't do anything is a cruel and foolish thing to do. Gamble & Huff never say anything good about Bobby Martin. Why would you try to hide someone and all the work they did, especially if they did the work for you. Bobby Martin is a big part of the Gamble, Huff team. I'd like to see Gamble & Huff in person so I could tell them to cut it out, because it just isn't right.
Stacey told Cassie that Mr. Barnett, the local store owner, was unfair and discriminatory towards Black customers. He often treated them with disrespect and gave preferential treatment to white customers. This conversation highlights the racial tensions and injustices the characters face in their community.
Honestly, being me, I would tell him dat I adore and admire him wit all my heart and go rite in2, "do you think willow and wade will think I'm cool- mostly your son
Happy Birthday
In the movie "No One Would Tell," the song playing when Bobby picks up Stacey from the bowling alley is "I Can’t Tell You Why" by the Eagles. This track sets a romantic and somewhat nostalgic tone for their interaction. The song enhances the emotional depth of the scene as their relationship develops.
