After Walt Disney's death in 1966, his brother and long-time company partner, Roy Oliver Disney, put his pending retirement on hiatus and took up work on the still-in-development "Florida Project", or, "Disneyland Florida". He was also promoted to head of Walt Disney Productions that same year. He supervised the construction and Grand Opening of the new Walt Disney World Resort in 1971 (renamed in honor of his late brother). Unfortunately however, later that year, he suddenly died from a seizure, and his positions in the Walt Disney Company were passed down to Donn Tatum, the first non-family member to hold such ranks.
