O.W.L's results

Only for the O.W.L's and N.E.W.T's. Those are the passing grades, the failing grades are Poor, Dreadful and Troll. Usually teachers only mark as pass or fail for the first four years.
No. The passing grades are Acceptable (A), Exceeds Expectations (E), and Outstanding (O). However, Hogwarts does not use this grading system. Only the OWL and NEWT exams use this grading system, and although the teachers may mark the homework paper of an OWL or NEWT student using this method, it is generally not used in Hogwarts. Also, although an A is a pass, it is generally not a good enough mark for a student to continue a class the next year.Sorry if this is a bit long, I tend to get carried away!
O (outstanding) = A E (exceeds expectations) = B A (acceptable) = C P (poor) = D+ D (dreadful) = D- T (troll) seem to be varying levels of an F.
Passing grades: O= outstanding= A E= exceeds expectations= B A= acceptable= C Failing grades: P= Poor= D D= Dreadful= F T= Troll= Z (presumably a zero)
Harry Potter and Ron Weasley became friends on the Hogwarts Express on their first day of term, the 1st September 1991. They were sorted into the same house and shared a dormitory. Except for a few arguments, they remained best friends throughout their lives. The two became friends with Hermione Granger after they saved her from a mountain troll and Hermione lied to keep them out of trouble.

It's kind of like a D and an F. They're both failing, but one is acknowledged as being slightly better than the other.

In the first four years of study at Hogwarts, final exams are taken at the end of the year. If you pass your exams then you move ahead to the next year. It is very very very rare for anyone to not pass their exams in their first four years. In fifth year students take OWLs (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) How many OWLS you receive affects your career and which classes you take at the NEWT level.Grades and what they are equivalent to in US muggle school:Pass Grades;Outstanding = A = 90%+Exceeds Expectations = B = 80%+Acceptable = C = 70%+Fail Grades;Poor = D = 60%+Dreadful = F = >60%Troll = F = 0%?I don't know what they would be equivalent to in the British school system, I tried to look it up but was confused, how can you only get 50% but still pass?
