The most important event in her reign would have to be the challenge of defeating the spanish armada that was sent in response to the execution of Mary queen of Scots.had the armada been successful in picking up the duke of palma's army on the other side of the English channel and landing them on English soil it would have almost certainly resulted in England being over-run,the queen herself being killed or at best imprisoned for life and the protestant church of England being outlawed in favour of the return of the roman catholic church as the only religion allowed.
