What is Luke Castellan's past?

Luke Castellan was the son of May Castellan and Hermes, the god of thieves, messengers, travelers and athletics.

Luke lived in Westport Connecticut, with his mother until he ran away at the age of nine.

The main reason he had ran away was because his mother had been cursed by Hades when she tried to be become the next Oracle for Camp Half-Blood. Part of her curse was that her eyes would turn green and she would rant, and that would scare Luke.

When Luke ran away, he soon bumped into a young demigod, like himself, named Thalia Grace daughter of Zeus. The two paired up and tried to survive.

Later on, they met up with another demigod; seven year old Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena. Luke had been impressed by the young girl's wits and had given her a bronze knife, which Annabeth carries with her in every book in the Percy Jackson series. Luke told Annabeth that only adroit fighter could wield a knife, and she looked adroit to him.

Luke had promised Annabeth that he would take care of her, and he would never fail her like her family had. That was a moment Luke later remebered to tie him to his normal human life.

Annabeth, Luke and Thaila continued to avoid minsters a try to survive. They often built shelters, which Annabeth and Percy hide inside of in the Sea of Monsters.

When Thalia got deathly hurt in a battle with a monster, Luke took her and Annabeth to his mother's house, to get help. While they were there, Luke met up with his father, Hermes for the first and last time. Luke was angry at his father for abandoning him and never answering his prayers. And when Hermes refused to tell his son's destiny, Luke left with a bitter grudge in his heart.

At some point, the gang found Grover Underwood, who had been looking for Thalia Grace to take her to Camp Half-Blood. Together, the group journeyed to Camp-Half-Blood.

They were followed by monsters that were sent from Hades, and they were stopped by a Cyclopes that would have defeated them if Annabeth had not stabbed the Cyclopes in the foot.

Once they had reached the border, Thaila sacrificed herself to the monsters so everyone else could get to the Camp.

But before the monsters had killed her, Zeus took pity on Thalia and turned her into a pine tree.

Luke stayed in Camp-Half-Blood and trained all year long. After a couple years of training, he was given a quest from Hermes, to find a Golden Apple at the Garden of Hesperides. He went on the quest, but failed, which resulted in him getting a scar from the dragon Ladon, who guarded the Garden of Hesperides.

After his failure, he held a bigger grudge against the his father and the rest of the gods. He began to have dreams of Kronos, the lord of the Titans. Luke then joined Kronos, because he longed for revenge. He then stole Zeus's Master Bolt and Hades's Helm of Darkness to start a war of the gods on a Camp field trip to Olympus.

Ares found Luke with the stolen items and fought him. Luke lost the fight, but before Ares could kill him, Luke, with the help of Kronos, who was controlling his tongue, managed to convince Ares not to give the stolen items back because it would mean a war. (Ares is the God of War, so he was very happy to hear that there would be a war among he gods)

Ares did not kill Luke, but took the Bolt and Helm with him, which he eventually gave both to Percy. (He gave the Bolt to him in a backpack, which Percy finds in the Underworld and the Helm of Darkness once he lost a fight to Percy)

Luke then fell deeper into the darkness of Kronos, until it consumed his mind, and he betrayed Percy, making him the main villain of the Percy Jackson series.
