While I can't tell you what his lasting contribution to literature will be, I can tell you that... Dean Koontz has published dozens of books which have been printed in 38 languages, and sold over 325,000,000 copies. Ten of his books have risen to the #1 slot on the New York Times best seller list for hardcover, and fourteen for paperback. Unlike most writers who stick to a particular genre (and by doing so develop a strong fan base), Koontz writes in a syle which touches upon several genres, and that fact has annoyed more than one of his agents. In spite of his lack of commitment to a particular genre, Koontz could be accurately described as a noteable Science Fiction and Horror novelist with a romantic side and an affinity for golden retrievers. His literary works are somewhat similar to the likes of Stephen King.
