Unlike most writers who stick to a particular genre (and by doing so develop a strong fan base), Koontz writes in a syle which touches upon several genres, and that fact has annoyed more than one of his agents. In spite of his lack of commitment to a particular genre, Koontz could be accurately described as a noteable Science Fiction and Horror novelist with a romantic side and an affinity for golden retrievers. His literary works are somewhat similar to the likes of Stephen King.
