The tone of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is very angsty, angry, frustrated, bitter, and withdrawn. At fifteen, Harry is going through a hormone-driven, emotional period in his life, and he has to deal with far more difficult situations than the average teenager. He wonders why, although it is common knowledge that he is to be the savior of the wizarding world, adults are keeping information from him and will not allow him to be a member of the Order despite defeating Voldemort four times already; he does not want to be treated like a child because he has been forced to grow up quickly, essentially having to take care of himself his whole life. Also, the horrors of the night in the graveyard, witnessing not only Cedric Diggory's death but the return of Lord Voldemort, haunts Harry. The pains in his scar have worsened as Voldemort now has a body, and the Daily Prophet has painted him as an arrogant, privileged young man who is only begging for attention by telling the world that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is back, seemingly splitting the wizarding community into wizard who support Harry or wizards who think that he is crying for attention. This ostracization makes Harry withdraw into himself and ignore even his closest of friends and their families. On top of all of this, Harry IS dealing with normal teenage things situations like winning Cho Chang's affection, his first kiss, and school.

Who put up the death mark in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?

He was not really Mad-Eye Mood, he was Barty Crouch, Jr., a Death Eater who was drinking Polyjuice Potion to look like Moody. Putting Harry's name in the Goblet of Fire was part of the plan to get Harry involved in the Triwizard Tournament so that he would end up touching the Triwizard Cup which Crouch had turned into a portkey taking Harry to a graveyard where Voldemort was coming back to life and planned on killing Harry. (That didn't end up working out).

Dark. the first chapter of Deathly Hallows takes place in Malfoy Mannor. I don't want to say to much of what happens but I think almost the entire book has a very dark mood. Although there are some happy times in the book. There's also a lot of action. Long live Harry Potter. -Luna

What is the mood or atmosphere in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone?

Compared to the remainder of the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone has a relatively light, whimsical tone. It has much of the same charm as a Roald Dahl classic. Despite the occasionally dark subject matter, the diction and tone itself is rarely somber or grave.
