I'm not sure about a mystery but Elizabeth was old and had no children but she became pregnant about the same time as her cousin Mary. Elizabeth gave birth to a boy he became John the Baptist. Mary gave birth to Jesus. So John the Baptist and Jesus were relatives.
John baptised Jesus in the Jordan river and soon after that John was killed.
