Greg Heffley is in the 8th grade in Middle school, and he has just had a massive fight with Rowley, his best friend. He is noticing that everyone is growing up before him, and are all growing facial hair and getting pimples and stuff like that. Three quarters through the book, gregs uncle Gary is getting married, and the wedding reception is at his great great great great great grandmothers house, who's name is Gammie Heffley. Around the time when a boy hits puberty, Gammie gives them THE TALK. Greg geusses that this is one of those elder wisdom things. But closer to the wedding date, greg is becoming a nervous wreck. On the day of the wedding, Gammie tells greg about puberty, and about what to expect over the next few years. After seeing all the pictures gammie shows him of his dad, uncles, and grandpa when they hit puberty and had facial hair and pimples, and braces and wrinkles and all that, greg decides to take her advice and hold on to his childhood as long as he can. It is up to the groom and his parents to figure out a plan as to what to do with the aunt and uncle's children during the wedding.
