I just changed the starter on my 1995 Toyota Tercel, changing the starter on your vehicle will likely be the same process. * First, make sure you have enough light (you'll have to go from under the engine and from on top of the engine). Also ensure that the electrical connectors from the new starter will work with the connectors of the old starter (I had to crimp a different connector on mine.) * Disconnect the negative cable from the car battery. * Remove the air filter assembly (one bolt on the front radiator area, one bolt underneath the actual air filter, and one bolt next to the strut and diagnostics box). You'll have to loosen a tension strip on one arm of the air filter assembly as well. * Jack the car up and place 2 jack stands under the vehicle. The starter is on the posterior side of the engine. You'll need to remove the two bolts of the mounting arm that blocks access to the starter. * Disconnect the two cables connecting to the starter (again ensure your battery is disconnected or there could be electrical arcing). You'll have to remove the hood cover off of one wire, and the other wire you'll have to push firmly on to remove. * The mounting bolts of the starter are difficult to get at. Be sure you have several different extensions handy for your ratcheting handle. Having a good socket set handy will make the job alot easier. You'll have to access the starter mounting bolts from on top of the engine (hence why you have to remove the air filter assembly). * When installing the new starter, you'll want a second set of hands nearby, as puting the starter mounting bolts in from on top of the engine while holding the starter in place to thread the bolts from underneath the engine will be difficult by yourself. Install the rest of the bolts you took out opposite of removal and you should be good to go. Check that the starter is working after you install it by reconnecting the battery and giving the car a go. Cheers.
Disconnect battery. Remove air filter assembly. Remove brace from intake manifold to engine block next to starter. Remove the two wires from the starter. Remove the two bolts holding the starter. One at the bottom the other at the top from the transmission side. The reason for removing the air filter assy.
