The Sherlock Holmes TV Show which is considered the best finished years ago after the actor who portrayed Holmes, Jeremy Brett passed away. There is at least 1 Sherlock Holmes TV show on at the moment. It's called Sherlock. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson. It is a modern adaptation, set in 21st century London. Series 2 will be coming to BBC1 soon. I recommend it. It's very good, some people even think it may be better than the Jeremy Brett version. Also an American TV broadcaster called CBS are planning on making a modern Sherlock Holmes. Obviously they didn't copy the idea at ALL.
In the books and most movies, Prof. Moriarty (his arch nemesis) and Holmes fall off the Reichenbach Falls. Sherlock survives, but Moriarty dies. The only reason Conan Doyle killed him off was because he grew tired of the character and the series, and it was distracting him from other projects. He brought back Sherlock Holmes because fans of Holmes got angry and forced Conan Doyle to bring him back. In the BBC modern-day adaptation of Sherlock, Moriarty tells Sherlock that he will kill Sherlock's friends is Sherlock does not kill himself. This exchange occurs on top of St. Bartholomew's Hospital. Moriarty shoots himself in the head, and then Sherlock jumps to his apparent death. At the very end of the episode, it is shown that Sherlock is still alive.
Sherlock Holmes was not the type to believe in the supernatural so his faith in anything would not be unquestioning. There is a line in The Adventure of the Gloria Scott where, while he is telling a story about his friend Victor Trevor, Holmes said he had been on his way to chapel when Trevor's dog bit his ankle. Therefore, one can assume he was of a Christian background of some sort. One could also make an argument that he was more of an athiest but had to study religious things in case of a case involving religion. There have been stories, though, of him being of other religions but those are fan created.
Holmes's birthday is generally accepted as January 6th 1854, this date is not actually recorded in Sir Arthur's documents and he never actually 'died'.From the mid-1800's to the early 1900's, the era typically referred to as Victorian England. Sherlock Holmes was born on January 6, 1854.

Sherlock Holmes 2 is listed on Netflix, but is set as "Unknown release data" as Netflix is screwing us all over on all the good movies. Go to blockbuster, they got the movie the day it came out. Just watch the late fee.
