The Chicago Tribune Tower was built in the 1920s. The old Tribune Building was located on the southeast corner of Dearborn and Madison streets.

The Chicago Tribune was originally headquartered in a 1902 building at Madison and Dearborn Streets. After moving to its new tower on Michigan Avenue in the 20s, the original Tribune Building later became known as the First Federal Building. It was razed in 2001 to make way for the construction of One South Dearborn, a 40-story tower set to open in 2005.
