Jack Kerouac is an American writer born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1922 and died in 1969 at the age of forty-seven. He is the father of the beats and author of the monumental "On the Road" which was his second novel published in 1955. His first novel,"Town and the City" was published some years earlier but differs from his later, more popular work. He wrote about the American traveler and the beat generation. Later works include: "The Subterraneans", "The Dharma Bums","Big Sur", "Desolation Angels", "Lonesome Traveler", "Visions of Gerard", Tristessa" and my personal favorite, "Mexico City Blues" (a lyrical poem written as one long novel). What's interesting about Kerouac is that he was born to a French-Canadian family and English was his second language, Peace! cb
