For Jack's dark eye makeup they imported a stick of makeup from India that repels light just like the makeup or stickers football players wear. Also, many different types of contacts were used. Pintel wears contacts that make his eyes look really yellow, Barbossa wears contacts to take the brightness out of his eyes, Regetti wears a big contact that bulges out of his eye for when he has his wooden eye in. A contact specialist is always on set just in case something goes wrong.
