Jack Kilby's ancestors lived in VA. At a certain time they decided to go the Oregon Trail by way of Missouri. Missouri was the staging area for that trek. I do believe that when Mr. Kilby's ancestors saw the fertile Illinois plain just across the Mississippi River from Missouri they setteled in IL. Don't know the exact times & dates but this is my take on his family. I have never read anything that was certified by family. He was a Kilby and a family jewel. He receivced the Nobel Prize in Physics just a few years ago. Another famous Kilby was Dr. Richard Kilby. He helped translate one of the Old Testament books for the KJV Bible. All this for what it's worth. Charles Westmoreland Kilby.
