For the full answer to this question you will need to look at a copy of Who's Who from 2000 or 2001. In brief, Sir Peter was a diplomat who lived in retirement in Bisley Farm House, Irstead Street. He began his career in the Madras Political Service and ended it as Her Majesty's Ambassador to one of the Scandinavian countries. He was then Private Secretary to a member of the Royal Family, I think perhaps the Duke of Kent. Sir Peter served as a private secretary on the staff of Viscount Mountbatten during the latter's Viceroyalty at the time of the granting of independence to India and Pakistan in 1947. He was a courteous gentleman who was modest about his achievements and experiences.
