Because he founded the Riley Cartoons, wich is the longest-running daily cartoon to this date, over 91 years old in 2010. He travelled the world so often, he was named "The Modern Marco Polo", and at one time, he was voted more popular than the President of the United States. His cartoons had over 80 million readers in 1930's and 40's.
