To answer this question I'll start by showing a sifferent subject.

You know how grocery stores have different aisles to keep things sorted? and whithin those aisles, theres generally different food types per aisle. Like in the dairy section, there's Milk, Cheese, Yogurt, Sour Cream, you get the idea.

Classifying organisms is the same. you dont want to go down the Genus Canis classification and find a Hampster, you'd like to find a Wolf or a Dog, right?
