The Richter scale is a numerical scale for expressing the magnitude of an earthquake on the basis of seismograph oscillations. So if someone doesn't know how to use the scale, it could be misleading, because if the Earthquake is a 9.7, but you think the earthquake is a 2.4, then you can put the world in danger. 2.4 and 9.7 earthquakes have a huge difference.
