The population of the Western Cordillera varies by country and region within the mountain range. In general, it is difficult to provide an exact number, but it is estimated to be in the millions, with major urban areas like Vancouver and Calgary in Canada, and cities like Santiago in Chile having significant populations within the mountain range.
Farming in the Western Cordillera includes a mix of commercial agriculture, subsistence farming, and agroforestry. Crops such as coffee, cacao, bananas, and citrus fruits are common in lower elevations, while highland farming focuses on grains, potatoes, and vegetables. Terrace farming is also practiced in the steep, mountainous terrain to maximize arable land.
The most obvious reason why there are more people in the Eastern hemisphere than the Western is that the continents of the Eastern hemisphere, Africa, Asia, and Europe, are simply larger, in aggregate, than the two continents of the Western hemisphere, North and South America. At a rough estimate there is twice as much sheer land mass in the east than in the west. Even aside from that, populations are denser in the east. That is more or less an accident of history. Different cultures develop in different ways.
In the early 1800s it was much harder to live on the mountains. People were often isolated from each other and town centers. The soil was not as rich on the mountains as in the river valleys and farming was the main source of sustenance.
In 2001 it was 6,168. I dont think it will have changed much since then Steve
Actually, most people in Scotland live in the central belt region, which includes cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh. The Southern Uplands are a mountainous region in the southern part of Scotland with a much smaller population compared to the central belt.
The western Cordillera region of North America receives varying amounts of precipitation depending on the specific location within the region. Coastal areas generally receive higher amounts of precipitation due to proximity to the ocean, while interior regions and rain shadows receive less. Overall, precipitation levels can range from moderate to high in the western Cordillera.

Two of the most major cities within the Cordilleran Boundaries are Vancouver and Mexico City. There is a variety of vegetation that grows in the Cordillera region. The vegetation includes: douglas fir, forage grass, white spruce, lodge pole pine, ponderosa pine, and many other grasses. This vegetation grows here because it rains a lot and the soil is good. A variety of wildlife can be found throughout the Cordillera region. Some of the animals are: falcons, woodland caribou, deer, moose, squirrel, wolverines, grizzly bears, mountain goats, and golden eagles. These animals make this region their home because of the mountains and because of the trees, grass, landscape, food, and beautiful nature.
