The Australian Alps are, of course, in the continent of Australia. They are the highest mountains in Australia's Great Dividing Range, and are located in the continent's southeast. They incorporate a number of national parks, and are probably best colloquially known as the "Snowy Mountains".

Although they are quite small compared to the various Alps in Europe (the highest peak is Mt Kosciuszko, at 2228m), these mountains are well covered in snow during winter, and attract many tourists seeking snow sports.
