if the wind could stop blowing for one week around the world, then we could see some serious global warming, polar ice caps would melt, the water cycle would halt, no wind for a week would perhaps, initiate a famine due to world wide crop damage. Not to worry, most scientists believe it is impossible for the wind to stop blowing completely around the earth. so how does this impossibility effect the current trend regarding global warming

If you dig a hole from long island NY straight through the earth's core where would you come out?

You would never come out. The Earths core temperature would destroy any implement. Any magma disturbed would fill in any hole, and the Earths gravity would not allow any progress away from the core.

What is a liquid rock called?

That depends where it is. On the surface of the planet it would be lava and in the earths core it would be the mantle.

Which tool would be best for seeing how the sizes of Earths continents?

A world map or globe would be the best tool for seeing the sizes of Earth's continents. Both provide a visual representation of the size and shape of continents in relation to one another.

What would happen if the alps did not exist?

If the Alps did not exist, the climate in Europe would be different as the mountains play a key role in influencing weather patterns. Additionally, the unique ecosystems found in the Alps would be lost, affecting biodiversity. The Alps also serve as a key source of freshwater for surrounding regions, so their absence would impact water availability.

The earth has been formed fully for 4.5billion years why is the centre still so hot what would happen if it cooled down?

When you put pressure on any material it creates friction in the molecules that form it causing heat. The center of the earth (the core) is under extreme pressure and the cooling of that core would cause the surface temperature to drop. If you pay attention to the controversy about global warming on T.V. you may have noted that scientists are concerned about only a few degrees of change. The cooling of the earths core would cause a large drop in surface temperature which would result in major changes. An extreme change might be another Ice Age, with no end.
