So the reason for all this is because the warmth of the equator causes air to rise, forming a low. The air then sinks, forming a high. As the air moves out of the high, it rises as it has been heated by the land, and forms the next belt of low pressure systems. Finally, the polar highs are caused as the air moves out of the lows and sinks.
