A Promise To Give Land to People Who Settled In Virginia
The Headright System, introduced in Virginia, gave each head of
household the right to fifty acres of land for himself and fifty
additional acres for each adult family member of servant that he
brought to America.
The four square kilometers of land was given to anyone who was
accepted to cross the Atlantic Ocean to help populate the
colonies.
