After the 17th of September, 1939, the Soviet Union entered Poland to stake out the claim that had been a secret clause in the German-Soviet Non-aggression Pact of 1939. The secret clause called for the Soviet occupation of the eastern half of Poland. Poland was no loner a free nation.
It took a few days, however France and England declared war on Germany. This soon became World War 2 as other nations set their military operations into action.
