Definition1/6
After helping out in the war, the businessmen of the country
decided women were just as capable of doing the jobs the men left
behind as the men had done them before the war. Consequently, more
job opportunities opened up for them. the women were patriotic
during the war, as the suffragette and suffragist movements stopped
for the duration and the whole country worked together, with the
women taking on the jobs of the men. With a combination of other
factors other than their contribution such as the fear of the
suffragette movement starting again, in 1918, women over 30 years
of age, who were home owners got the vote. Furthermore, women no
longer had to have a chaperone on dates, and the man instead of
coming to the women's house, the two went out on 'dates'.
Hope this helps.
