What is an allele

a form of a gene apex

Why do cells need to divide

One of the major aspects of life is self replication, or reproduction. If cells didn't divide, then populations of organisms would not form, and evolution would be impossible. The more proximate cause is that as cells grow and ingest food, there is a limit to how big they can become before the cell wall no longer supports the cytoplasm. At or before this point, the cell must divide or it will lyse (split open) and die.

What happens during interphase

the chromosomes are duplicated.

What must happen before meiosis can begin

DNA doubles and produces sister chromatids before meiosis begins.

the chromosomes must replicate

What is the role of microfilaments in cell division

They pull the cell membrane in.

They Split The Cell During Cytokinesis.

What is the term for the two sets of chromatids formed in the parent cell

Tetrad

What would most likely decrease the genetic variation in the human population

Which would most likely decrease the genetic variation in the human population?

How did Mendel make the F1 generation for his experiment

he crossed two pure lines

How are meiosis and mitosis different

mitosis only has to do with celluar reproduction

meiosis has to do with sex cells reproducing
Mitosis creates new cells that are used for development, repair, asexual reproduction and growth. Meiosis creates cells in order for organisms to reproduce sexually.

Why is a dominant allele called dominant apex

it dominates the phenotype

Why did Mendel wanted to find out if the color of the seed of a pea plant affected the seed shape What experiment did he perform to test his idea

He tested seed color and shape at the same time.
