Yes, your bladder can be removed. It is a major surgery, but my 81 year old mother who learned she had bladder cancer, had hers removed last year, and is doing well. They create a stoma and you use a bag on the outside of your body to collect the urine. There is also a surgery that creates a 'new' bladder to replace the original, but it is an extensive surgery, and not usually recommended for an elderly person. In that case you are able to continue as 'normal' without the use of a bag.
