Does in hurt to get braces?

no. it doesn't hurt but it feels kinda weird. the only thing about it is is all the scary, sharp tools they put in your mouth, but don't worry, they know how to use them.

no i doesn't hurt they clean your teeth and then they use something to keep your mouth open wide , they put some glue on your teeth then they stick the silver squares on then they ask you if you want coloured elastic , then the wire goes on and all together it takes about half an hour

Braces getting them on do not hurt at all. I got them tighten and everything and it felt like i did not even get them on. They hurt about 1-2 days because they are making your teeth straight. They do not give you any shot either. and the glue they put on does not taste bad because they put something on your tongue. You will look better with braces on =)

Your dentist is really nice and caring about your teeth they try to be as soft and gentle as they can and they make sure to tell your parents to give you pain medication so you don't really feel it at all and they will put stuff on your tongue to help more. When i got them on it the day after my birthday i was really nervous but it was pain-free but when the pain medication wheres off you will be sore for 1-2 days 3 at the most but it was fun to pick your color bands. so relax it was pretty cool. :] :] =]

I have had Braces since Feburary 2011.

They really don't hurt, whoever is reading this and is saying, well they probably hurt, and you feel nervous DONT.

The braces feel pretty good actually when you get them. When they do the slight push on your teeth it makes me feel calmer knowing that it wont hurt as much as I thought it would.

AND I AM 12. IF IT DIDNT HURT ME IT DIDN'T HURT YOU!

TIGHTENING:

So, when you go to the dentist, they will mention tightening of the braces, which you are probably confused on how it works. When they tighten them you will get a slightly bigger wire around your brackets. There isnt pain, but they WILL get sore. You CAN NOT eat hard foods, even the hardish part of the bread from Subway might hurt. You can basically eat small noodles and mashed potato substances to not have the pain.

When they are sore do not push. That will make the pain worse for an hour or so. Do not put your teeth together either. Try to make it so your tongue can hang out by the tip of your mouth so they dont touch.

GETTING BRACES:

Be SURE your lips are NOT dry or chapped. They will put your mouth in a piece making sure they can see all your teeth. If your lips are dry they WILL bleed and crack.

When you get the braces you will get a very nasty tasting green liquid covering your teeth. When you get this, this is to clean your teeth of everything. You dont want cavities under the glue they put on you.

Then they will put glue on your tooth. Then put the bracket on, they will shine a light on it to harden the glue. Do not move your tongue. You will regret it. They will repeat this process until all your teeth are covered.

WHAT NOT TO EAT:

Don't eat:

Jollly Ranchers (at least dont bite)

Corn (on the cob)

LollyPops (dont bite)

Gummy Worms

Gummy Bears

Ice (dont chew)

Swedish Fish

POPCORN (I'm positive you will till eat this but your teeth will be COVERED in the hard part of popcorn)

not at all! i just got braces today and therre were some sharp things and some pionty things, and they may have you try to breath out of your nose for the entire time... but it doesnt hurt.

After you get your braces on, it kinda feels annoying. and its kinda hard to eat some foods. i reccomend eating soups and applesauces until your teeth stop feeling sore.

I have had braces before and it does not hurt to get them on. Later when you eat that hurts like crazy you won't like it at all.
