You will know because you will see the blood, ofter the first period may be very light, and not really much like a period. But, as soon as the blood comes that's when menstruation starts, so for the months after until you're older you'll get your period!
If you're not sure then ask your mum, or your GP.
Good luck!

You started your period or something is really wrong.
You really should of taken the pill the day your period started so it doesnt alter your cycle. But yes its ok but your period may be late next month.
i don't know for sure but i just started my period and it felt like my skin was on fire. if that's not a hot flash i don't know what is.
That is really bad and abnormal you should go see a doctor.there could be a problem with your vagina and I know that and I'm 11 years old I started my period 3 months ago
You know you have started your period when you see spots of blood on your underwear. most of the time you first starrt spotting then you know you have started it. but some people also get menstral cramps or boobs hurt, also even you get back aches.
Of the women I know, the age range is 9-14. I was 13 when I started.
You would know if you're pregnant by taking a pregnancy test. A pregnancy test can be taken from two weeks after intercourse and doesn't require you to know when your period should have started.
