Thoracic duct, which is the main lymphatic vessel that drains lymph from the lower body and left side of the upper body into the left subclavian vein.
The lymph system is similar to the venous system in the body. There are series of one way valves that keep the fluid moving in one direction. As you move or flex you muscles it presses down on the lymph vessels and the fluid moves though the one way valves.
The lymphatic system is a one way system that begins in the tissues and ends when it reaches the blood vessels. the system helps the body maintain homeostasis by collecting accumulated tissue fluid around cells and returning it to blood circulation. the lymphatics play an active part in the immune defenses by filtering out and destroying foreign substances and microorganisms; and also help in digestion by absorbing fats from the small intestine.
Sounds like you have an infection. Lymphatic system works similar to the circulation (blood) system, except it only goes one way, whilst the circulation has 2 way traffics (artery and vein). When the lymph swollen it could be caused by infection or tumor/cancer (lymphoma).
The Lymphatic System relates to the Skeletal System by way of direct inclusion of support cells for circulation through bone marrow. Both of the systems are dedicated to the circulation and production of lymphocytes through the lymph nodes throughout the Lymph System.
Lymph is a fluid. It flows through the lymphatic vessels by one way valves which allows lymph move way through lymphatic system. Subclavian suction, and skeletal muscle pumps help to propel the lymph through the lymphatic vessels.
Veins are the vessels that carry de-oxygenated blood back the heart. Without the venous system, there would be no way for blood to return to the heart, and circulation would not be complete.
If a thrombus in the left common iliac vein dislodged, it would likely travel to the pulmonary artery via the venous circulation, as this is the most common site for venous thromboembolism to cause pulmonary embolism.
On it's way lymph passes through masses of tissue called lymph nodes
lymph capillary Lymph fluid is filtered in lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are along lymph vessels which that run along blood vessels. Lymph vessels draw in interstitial fluid (fluid between cells) and it them becomes lymph fluid. Lymph nodules are in connective tissue in place of high traffic and does not function as a filter because it's not along a lymph vessel.
