If you're there while someone else is doing CPR on a victim;
-- Make sure the area is safe & secure, and also that the victim is not laying in water.
-- Call for an ambulance.
-- Stay with the rescuer, as they might need you to take over for a few minutes while they rest (CPR is very tiring after a while).
-- Make sure to keep spectators back at a distance so that when the medics arrive they do not have to push through a crowd.
Basically, there's a lot you can do to help. Of course the most important is staying calm.
everyone needs to know cpr
Yes CPR is an acronym and therefore needs to be capitalized.
Adult CPR is needed for whenever someone needs aid in breathing. Therefore, it can be any age that needs it, as long as the person has a certification in CPR for legal reasons. The word "adult" refers to at least age 18, so adult CPR is CPR for those 18 and over only.
You don't have to know CPR to baybsit; however, it would be a very good thing if you do know how to perform CPR. Also, many parents would prefer someone who is trained in CPR to babysit their children over someone who is not trained in CPR.
Cpr means
You should not unless it is part of your job description. If it is part of your job description, you are required to perform CPR if someone needs it.
Fairly likely you will come across a choking situation or someone needing CPR.
You do not need to be a professionalrescuer to perform CPR. If CPR is being done correctly, confirm 911 has been called. Ask if the person needs a rest and you take over CPR. If CPR is being done incorrectly, ask the person if you can take over CPR. If you are in a setting where you have a duty to respond or take action (as a professional rescuer), you are the more advanced person so you should assess the situation and determine what needs to be done next. Is the person doing CPR correctly? Is the scene safe? Do you need to call your headquarters? Are there any other victims? Follow your protocols.
You will only need training to do CPR properly.
People who normally perform CPR are EMT's. It is possible to be trained in First Aid and CPR for a fee if you are not an EMT.
Infants in need of CPR must be positioned differently than adults in need of CPR. Also, circulation needs to be checked in a different position for infant CPR than for adult CPR (check the carotid artery instead of the brachial artery). Thus, it would be more helpful to attend a child-specific first aid course as well, instead of simply taking an adult-specific first aid course.
Start CPR; at some point you will need to control the bleeding (hopefully someone is with you to do this). If not, make a judgment call when to stop CPR & get the bleeding under control.
