Headaches and head pressure are a real 'pain' to contend with especially when it keeps reoccurring. And, headache as a symptom is not easy to track down because it can have many causes, including:

  • sinusitis or sinus pain - especially if the tooth's roots are close to or in the sinus cavity
  • teeth, infected tooth, impacted tooth, or tooth abscess
  • neck or shoulder problem
  • or allergy

Since it has been a year and a half, I'd start with your family doctor. He/she can try to rule out the different possibilities and try to narrow it down.

You should also visit a dentist to rule out an actual tooth problem, if a problem exists. Ask them to do an X-ray of the root-canal. On a root canal I had done, the old type of posts used were pressing on a nerve. For mine, the tooth finally split in half (front came off) and the pain went away... of course, I lost that tooth, though.

I doubt a dentist or Dr would give you an antibiotic because it's been so long since the procedure. But do ask your GP to check your sinuses and ENT (ears, nose, throat).

How do you releive headache?

Headaches are usually a symptom of an underlying problem. If you get headaches more than once or twice a week, you may want to do some research on chronic headaches. For occasional headaches, Ibuprofen is sufficient in relieving pain. Follow the guidelines on the package. I wouldn't recommend using a product like Excedrin, which contains caffeine, because the caffeine can actually cause you to have a rebound headache the following day. This is also true for continuing use of OTC pain killers, which is why I have recommended you look into causes of chronic headaches if that is the case with you.
