Although originally thought to be smallpox, yellow fever or plague, recent analysis indicates that it may have been leptospirosis that wiped out 90% of the Native Americans on the Massachusetts coast in 1620 before the pilgrims even arrived at Plymouth. Ship rats aboard prior European ships were supposedly infected with the disease and spread it to local raccoons, minks and muskrats that contaminated the fresh water.

The other is a journal of Edward Winslow (though some parts may have been written by Bradford, as well), which was published in 1622 in London and is now commonly known as "Mourt's Relation". "Of Plymouth Plantation" is still in print. "Mourt's Relation" can be found on-line.
