There many advanced methods that are now making prostate cancer's survival rate better. They have advanced drugs to deal with this disease. They also have better chemos and radiation to help kill the cancer cells.
A persons Prostate may be removed for a few reasons. The main reason is generally due to Cancer. It can be a partial removal or total.
Late stage prostate cancer metasticizes to the bones. This may be the reason.
Huell Howser was an American television personality. He was best known for his travel show called California's Gold. He died at age 67 on January 7, 2013, and his cause of death was from metastatic prostate cancer, which he battled for several years.
== == That depends on the *reason* for the rectostomy, (or proctostomy, which is the same thing.) If there is cancer involved in the prostate, then yes, it will be removed. If the prostate is unaffected by the current disease process that is causing the need for the proctostomy then most likely it will be left intact.
Very often; yes.Brain cancer needs to be found very early and be very small and be located in an easy to reach location for there to be any real chance of survival. Most cases of brain cancer are not found until there is a reason to look for it and by than it is often too late. Brain cancer can also show up anywhere in the brain; many locations that simply cannot be operated on.Unlike some other types of cancer, brain cancer is not one that can be checked at home; and its symptoms often do not show up until it is already at a growth point that is near fatal.Brain cancer has a 5 year survival rate of 32%By comparison there are at least 17 types of cancer with higher survival rates (for example prostate has 98% and breast cancer has 86% survival rates)There are only 6 types of cancer with a lower survival rate ranging from stomach (23%) down to pancreas (4%).
There are many different types of cancers in the world. There are cancers such as bladder cancer, breast cancer, endometrial cancer, colon cancer, kidney cancer, thyroid caner and many others.
No. Prostate cancer is caused by changes in the DNA (at the genetic level) of prostate cells. Being kicked in the testicles can cause bruising, hemorrhaging, rupture of the testicle, torsion, swelling, and severe pain, but it is not likely to be the cause of prostate cancer. When cells in the prostate divide to proliferate, each should form 2 identical cells to the parent cell. Cells also have a control that tells them when and how often to divide. For whatever reason (whatever triggers the change in the DNA), a cell begins to divide erratically and produces cells that are not identical to the parent cell. These mutated cells continue to divide and produce more, further changed cells. Often, cancer cells are very different from the original parent cell, and they multiply more rapidly. Their proliferation is out of control. Many things can trigger the change in the DNA. Exposure to carcinogens, known and unknown, and familial history of cancer of a similar type can predispose an individual to developing cancer.
It is a scientific test which studies someones DNA. The reason for the test is usually to see if someone is at risk of contracting certain hereditary diseases such as Prostate Cancer. Another reason for such a test is in criminology to see if the person's DNA matches that of criminal evidence left at a crime scene.
Survival
If you or someone you love has been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, you may be searching for more options on treatment. There are several different types of types of treatment plans available for prostate cancer. The kind of treatment that may be recommended for you will depend upon a variety of factors including your overall health, how advanced your cancer is, and how aggressive the cancer is.SurveillanceIf you have prostate cancer that is in the very early stages, you may actually not need treatment at this time. In this case, some doctors may recommend that the cancer is monitored using blood tests and other types of exams. If the tests show that the cancer is progressing, then you can always opt for treatment. Some men never need to be treated. This is also an option for men who have serious health issues or who are advanced in age and may not be able to tolerate treatment very well.RadiationDoctors can also use radiation therapy to kill the cancer cells. There are two different types of radiation therapy that may be used for prostate cancer. External radiation therapy may involve laying on a table while a machine directs energy beams at the cancer cells. During internal radiation therapy known as Brachytherapy, small rice sized radioactive pellets are inserted into the prostate. These small pellets kill the radiation cells and eventually stop giving off radiation. They do not need to be removed. Hormone TherapyHormone therapy can also help to slow the progression of the cancer or kill the cancer by reducing the amount of testosterone in your body. There are several different ways to reduce the testosterone levels including using medication to regulate the levels as well as removing the testicles through surgery. Usually, this is done when the levels need to be lowered quickly. This type of therapy is usually used in men that have advanced prostate cancer. It can also be used to shrink tumors prior to radiation therapy.Radical prostatectomyThis treatment plan involves removing the prostate gland. There can be some significant side effects that may occur if this treatment plan is used. For that reason, it is important to talk to your doctor and carefully evaluate all of the options available to you before making a treatment plan decision.
the usual test is a blood test called a PSA test. this measures the amount of a hormone in the blood. higher PSA means a larger prostate. A high PSA is not necessarily an indicator of prostate cancers (PCa). A rapidly changing PSA is an indication of PCa. Once suspects the usual test is to do a biopsy of the prostate. The prostate is located under the bladder and right next to the rectum. To take a biopsy - a tool is inserted in the rectum and a needle punches through the rectum wall into the prostate to take a core sample. 6 to 12 samples are usually taken. After the biopsy, there is some pain- but be aware you will see blood in your urine and in your semen. I didn't know this and it scared the beejesus out of me and my wife.
A mutation of a cell is the reason Cancer is started.
