Sometimes it can hurt a lot, especially if it is your first time getting them tightened. Usually the first time you get them tightened they tighten it a lot...and then the dentist asks you, "Does it feel uncomfortable?" You probably wouuld say yes because it doesn't bother you then but after that it hurts a lot, right when you leave the dentist's office....GOOD LUCK and BE PREPARED FOR IT. The pain usually makes you tired so be very prepared and take a lot of pain killers. Contact your orthodontist right away if you feel that you can't sleep, feel depressed, or are too tired. These are common side affects in getting your first braces tightened or put in.

nah its this that the put new wires in i dosent hirt at all

Actually, it does hurt. But getting new rubberbands is not as bad as getting new wires!! Your teeth will be sore for a few days but if you take ibprophen or advil or Tylenol it should go away! :D

I had braces for a good couple years, and they were tightened almost every month. It varied visit to visit, but I usually found it pretty painful while they were in the process. After a few days, though, I would adjust. Sometimes it would take longer to get used to it, and other times there was hardly any pain. If you have a low pain tolerance, headgear, or rubber bands it'll probably hurt more.

A very teeny bit. It only really hurts when you change to a thicker wire or get elastics

yes it's just a lot of pressure on your teeth but don't worry they stop hurting after about 24 hours.

They hurt as much as when you get them on, sadly.

Getting your braces tightened may hurt depending how crooked your teeth are and how tender your gums are.
