Not sure why you would tax your liver like that though. Why not see the doctor if you're in that much pain?

I watched my little brother take 12 vicoprofen at a time and he's fine.. He did that for years. Not saying its a good idea, but you can live through it. Alot of people hooked on hydrocodone switch to vicoprofen from vicodin cause acetomenaphin is toxic to the liver and ibuprofen is not. just my 2 cents

You should take only the dosage that has been recommended by your pharmacist or other healthcare professional.

You're unlikely to die from taking so much, but it is a clinical overdose.

If you took it accidentally, and feel any symptoms obviously get straight to A&E.

Drink lots of water, if you have overdosed, and do not take any more until you've let that out of your system.... At least a day is best!

My mother had a hip replacement and was on 1600mg of ibuprofen a day for her post op pain, she took this dose every day, for a number of weeks. You have to take into consideration that this amount was taken in two doses daily (two lots of 800mg with a number of hours between the doses) and the dosage was advised and monitored by her doctor especially for her in this case. She had absolutely no adverse side effects from taking this high dose daily for a number of weeks.

It is also very important to take ibuprofen (especially large doses) with food, as one of the most common risks of ibuprofen consumption is that it can cause stomach ulcers.

In short if this was a once off dose of 2000mg I would not be worried. So to answer your question based on what I know you can take 2000mg of ibuprofen a day and it is unlikely you will suffer as long as you take it with food and don't do it everyday for a long period of time. Of course it is not good for you but in my opinion (I am not a doctor) the risk of an adverse outcome is reasonably low. It is best to see your doctor and assess your need for such a high dose, your doctor will most likely be able to give you something that subdues your pain more effectively and with less risks.

No, the kidneys cannot tolerate this amount (depending on the individual-it could possibly even shut them down).... and it can have a profoundly negative effect on the cardiac system causing irregularity in heart rhythm, too. The dose of 800mg every 8 hours is suggested, and not to exceed 2400 mg. in a 24 hour period of time.

You CAN, but you wouldn't want to. Though it's virtually impossible to overdose on Ibuprofen, in large amounts it will just make you incredibly sick.
