It depends on the powder. From what I've heard, whey digests quickly (20 to 40 min.), casein digests slowly (6 to 9 hours), and the popular option right now are blends of the 2 for slow & fast digesting proteins.
Protein shakes are no different from regular sources of protein, as long as you regulate the amount of protein going into the body, you should be fine. For best results, you should drink protein shakes after exercising to help your body recover.

while sleeping, we stay without food for at least 8 hours and our body gets in a catabolic stage...so it is important that before bed we give some protein to our body..but it is better that the protein is not fast absorbed but slowly absorbed so we have amino-acids through our body during the whole night and not the first 2-3 hours(that's how long takes for whey to be absorbed)...if your protein shake is with casein protein then it's ok..or you can better have some cottage cheese that also contains casein(slowly absorbed protein)...

As long as you can hold it in.
"Shake" has a long vowel sound. The "a" in "shake" is pronounced as "ay," making it a long vowel.
It can lose it's flavor if you shake it up a lot or leave it out in sun for to long.
