What kind of cough syrup gets you high that's not over the counter?

Well check the active ingredients mate. And I don't know about brands what your looking for however is dextromethorphan or "dxm" for short. Your looking for something with JUST that on it, any other things can lead to danger.

This however is in the codeine board, if your in America your out of luck for there is no over the counter brands with it in it. If your in Europe however i would not know the brands are there.

If you take an excess amount of cough medicine containing DXM(Dextromethorphan) than yes you will get high and it will have psychedelic effects on you. DXM is found in some over the counter cough medicines.

There is an ingredient called DXM (Dextromethorphan) which some people use to get high. It is found in many over-the-counter cough syrups and cold medicines.

However, I have done DXM myself (pure DXM, in pill form) and the "high" it produces is AWFUL. It makes you feel disoriented, paranoid, confused, and just generally BAD. It is really a terrible choice for a recreational drug.

And the people I did it with didn't seem to be having fun, either. They were freaking out more than I was. Why anyone would ever choose to take this horrible, horrible drug is beyond me.

Furthermore, cough syrups and cold medicines contain other medications -- like acetaminophen -- which can cause serious health problems, like stomach bleeding and liver damage. You have to swallow a LOT of cough syrup in order to feel the effects, so, you will be doing some very serious damage to your body.

There are two types of prescription cough syrups that I can think of.

One contains a higher dose of Codeine (Higher than what you can get over the counter)

The other is called "Hycodan" - a cough syrup containing the semi synthetic opioid narcotic 'Hydrocodone'

The second of these is much stronger, however they both will produce a euphoric effect.
